What is VoxClip?
VoxClip is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that captures everything you copy and dictate in one searchable Timeline. Free keeps Timeline content and voice on your device. Plus adds opt-in cloud features and shows what will be sent.
Is VoxClip really free?
Yes. Everything that runs on your device (clipboard history, local dictation, keyword search, Search by meaning, Snippets, the Quick-picker) is free, without an account. Only features that need our servers (sync and AI) are paid.
Is VoxClip safe? Why does my computer warn me during install?
The Mac build is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally. On Windows, the installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns you the first time: it means "unverified developer", not "harmful". The download page shows exactly what the warning looks like and how to proceed. Windows code-signing is on our roadmap.
Does VoxClip send my data to the cloud?
The free app sends none of your Timeline, voice, or usage data to us. Choosing a local voice model downloads it to your device without sending your content. Paid features send only what they need, only after you've turned the feature on and seen what leaves.
Does dictation upload my voice?
No. Speech-to-text runs on your device. Audio never leaves your machine, on both the free and paid tiers.
Can VoxClip's makers read my synced Timeline?
No. Sync is end-to-end encrypted on your device before upload; our servers store ciphertext only. The flip side: if you lose your recovery code, we cannot restore synced data for you.
What does VoxClip Plus cost?
Start with a 7-day free trial, then pay €6.99 per month or €59 per year. Cancel anytime; your local Timeline is never affected.
What platforms does VoxClip run on?
macOS 12 or later and Windows 10 or later. Linux and mobile aren't supported.
How is VoxClip different from a clipboard manager like Paste or Maccy?
Those are good clipboard tools. VoxClip also captures what you say: dictations land in the same Timeline as your copies, so one search and one hotkey cover both.
How is VoxClip different from dictation apps like Wispr Flow or superwhisper?
Those focus on speech-to-text in the moment. VoxClip keeps what you dictated: every dictation is saved, searchable and recallable later, alongside your clipboard history.
Is this the same as the voxclip.dev command-line tool?
No. voxclip.dev is an unrelated open-source terminal tool by another developer. VoxClip (this site, voxclip.it) is a desktop app for Mac and Windows.
Where is my data stored?
Locally, in a database on your device. If you enable sync (Plus), an encrypted copy is stored on EU-hosted servers; see the Privacy Policy for the details.
Do you use my data to train AI?
No. The free app sends none of your Timeline, voice, or usage data to us. Paid AI requests are processed without being used for model training.
